The I.P. relates to devices and systems for evacuating or removing surgical bioaerosols, including surgical smoke from a surgical site promoting a healthy working environment for operating room staff per OSHA mandates and removal of contaminating particulates and bacteria from the air around open surgical sites to protect patients from post-operative wound infections.

The technology disclosed provides the following  advantages:

  • Provides a bioaerosol capture device well-suited for removing, evacuating and absorbing smoke, chemical vapors, aerosols, gaseous or generally gaseous material, liquids and/or fluids with contained particles of other material.
  • It allows substantially complete removal of smoke, particulates and other aerosols from the operative site including nanoparticles (“ultrafine particles”) of less than 100 nanometers (0.1um in diameter). üIt allows incorporation of the technology into the surgical drape so as to provide high smoke capture efficiency (98%) in conjunction with a required sterile drape to cover the surgical field.
  • It allows removal of captured smoke (bioaerosols) from the room to a distant site for dispersal without using a filter that currently returns the “filtered” air back into the surgical suite. This improves employee and patient protection while at the same time saving the hospital and out-patient surgical facilities, millions of dollars once the units are installed.
  • The part of the device which attaches to the patient or covering drape, is made of materials that allows the plenum or pad to conform to any body contour to which it is applied.

The global smoke evacuation systems market is estimated to grow from USD 115 million in 2020 to USD 154.62 million by 2025, at a Compound Annual Growth Rate (CAGR) of 6.1% during the forecast period with the laparoscopic and open surgical procedures sharing this growth rate equally.

  • What makes this phenomenal is that it uses uric acid to interact with conductive ink strips so as to create a circuit. Additionally, this detection of moisture is performed without using electricity.
  • A fully engineered prototype has been produced and associated production costs are quite  economical. Costs will continue to reduce as evolving technology such as 3d printing is more implemented, which will expand the market size and reach exponentially. Users will print their own strips.
  • The invention can be placed into an existing diaper or other environments requiring moisture detection and can wirelessly provide detection events.
  • The simple strip can be coupled with a diaper, undergarment, athletic clothing, a mattress protector pad or even on a bedsheet.

An articulating toothbrush is disclosed that has a flexible bristle head the bristles of which may be changed between flat, concave and convex states for best brushing the fronts and backs of teeth. The handle comprises an upper handle portion and a lower handle portion that are parallel to each other and slide with alongside each other when the user applies a linear force to the handle. Locking means are provided with the upper and lower handle portions to hold them in a position to which they are moved by applying a force to them.

Personal hygiene cleansing and irrigation device – US 7,774,871

A personal hygiene cleansing device is disclosed which attaches to the wall of a shower or bath stall and to the water supply at a shower head in the stall. The device is adjustable to meet the height and other personal requirements of the user. Two generally vertically oriented, rubber coated bars are adjusted to a proper height and spacing for a user.
